About

Virginia’s reputation as the “best state for business,” the best place to raise a child, and the “best-managed state” in the country is thanks to the work of state and local governments that pride ourselves on being effective, efficient, and open. ARRA.Virginia.Gov represents our commitment to ensure Virginia citizens are kept informed about how state government leaders plan to implement the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA).

The ARRA provides more than $4 billion in direct state-aid. In addition, a substantial amount of additional ARRA funds are available through competitive grants, many of which may be awarded to state entities including agencies and institutions of higher education. These awards may also be made to local governments, quasi-governmental organizations, non-profit organizations, and private companies.

Since the signing of the legislation, Federal agencies have begun distributing funds, and visitors to Recovery.gov are able to see which states, Congressional districts, and Federal contractors are receiving recovery plan dollars. Information is also in the form of maps, charts, and other graphics.
